I am noticing that tomcat6.exe (the CA ArcServe D2D Web Service) is using upwards of 200 megabytes of RAM on the machines that are running D2D, even when no backups are going on. Is this normal? Can this be tuned downwards?  I have updated to the latest version (R16 update5) but this did not improve the memory consumption.

Thanks
-Tim

Tim,

You can configure tomcat memory consumption with tomcat configuration tool.

Have you tried this?

Hi Tim,

Try disabling D2D System Tray Icon for all users and check if
tomcat6.exe is still taking up 200 MB RAM when no jobs are running. The
following Technical Document explains the procedure to disable the
System Tray Icon:

Haven't tried it. I'm wondering if there will be any adverse effects
by doing this

Hi Tim,

Disabling the D2D System Tray Icon would not have any adverse effect
on the server however user will be unable to perform the activities
documented in the following section in the User Manual:-

Ajay
