Greetings,

I have a new installation of D2D r16 running in a VMware enviornment.
I am running ESX 4.1 with vCenter 4.1. My backups are all successful.
However, during the backup I get this error/warning "Could not get
volume information from the virtual machine guest OS". I have tried
restarting the vmtools as well as the Vm itself, as suggested in the
r16 release notes. Therefore, I am unable to do any sort of restore.

Any assistance would be great!

Hi Mike,

I suspect you are using CA ARCserve Central Host-Based VM Backup R16.0
to backup the virtual machines. If that’s the case I would advise you
to perform the following to resolve the issue:-

1) Verify you have completed all the prerequisite tasks that are
required before performing the install of Host-Based VM Backup, refer
the following URL for more information:
https://support.ca.com/cadocs/0/CA%20ARCserve%20Central%20Applications%20Enterprise%20Support%2016%200-ENU/Bookshelf_Files/HTML/hbug/ua_hb_prereq_tasks.htm

2) Verify if VMware VIX API 1.10.1 or later is installed in the
ARCserve D2D server which is configured as the backup proxy server.

3) Verify if R16.0 Update 3 is installed in the ARCserve D2D server
which is configured as the proxy server.

Let me know if the above steps doesnot help resolve the issue.

Regards,
Ajay Kumar
