Hey,
I've finally started to do some 3d printing after long experimentation and today after some printing I noticed that my hot end has a huge tear in the fire sleeve.
I have no idea how or why it has bursted, I haven't touched the hot end or that fire sleeve for a while.
See the picture.

How serious is this ?
Can I fix it on my own ? I have a PTFE band/tape lying around, should I just tape it around the hot end ?

Regards,
Robert

Hi,

Drop me a line to my email address, and I can send you at shipping cost
(ie. you dont need to pay for the item themself).

Unfortunately it behaves like scotch tape, it withstand a lot of
pulling force, but if
there is a "bite-in" or any sharp curve then it just split apart.

I'm lately cutting really carefully those tubes, and I test each firesleeve
as pulling with as much force as I can, and if it does not fail, then I pack it.

You can't fix it yourself. However the hotend is operational without it,
so until the replacement arrive, you still can use it.

Best,
Laszlo

Robert,

You could repair it by adding a wrapping of "Rescue tape" - http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1288127&CA_6C15C=881758022
