HI everybody
I have a big doubt: if I use a 0.35 mm nozzle which is the minimum layer height to achieve the best results?
I've read that never should be more than 80% of the nozzle diameter; that said is about 0.28 mm for a 0.35 nozzle and 0.4 mm for a 0.5 mm nozzle.
That's really far of the 0.1 mm that I've read peole can make in their printers.
I'm printing at 0.28 mm layer height for the 0.35 mm nozzle,
Any suggestion on how to improve my prints?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

About 0.1 is as far as you’ll go with 0.35mm nozzle before you start getting into trouble.
Layer height is not the only parameter. It’s layer height vs. width vs. nozzle diameter.

For 0.1mm layer height, with a 0.35mm nozzle, 0.35mm extrusion width is servicable.
Going below that is possible, but will depend on the filament (how stretchy it is, basically).

Nophead should have much more input on this...

Thank you @orcinus for your rapid answer.
If I understand well a 0.1 layer height would be possible if I set a extrusion width of 0.35
In http://www.tantillus.org/Basic_calc.php if I put a 0.1 layer height for a .35 nozzle gets a .37 extrussion width. Is possible to put a extrusion width greater than the nozzle diameter?

Yes, as long as your nozzle doesn’t have too sharp a tip.
The nozzle “squashes” the extrusion against the previous layer.

If the tip is extremely sharp, obviously, it won’t be able to do that as well (and as wide) as a flat tip.

OK understood.
Indeed, I've always thought that the Arcol.hu nozzle's tip was extremely flat, but as you say is better if you intend to print at those height layers.
Thank you again.
I promise to upload some pictures when I get some decent prints at that layer height.
Best, Andrés

I get good results on the Arcol v4, 0.5mm drill, with natural ABS at .127 layer heights.
