Error could not find generator 'blacklight:install'

Hello,

I am exploring implementing Arclight for my library. I have been trying to set up a demo instance of Arclight, but I having trouble installing the application. This is the first Ruby on Rails project I've worked on, so while I've familiarized myself with the framework, I'm still quite a novice.

The error I am receiving is "Could not find generator 'blacklight:install'. (Rails::Command::CorrectableNameError)"

I have been following this GitHub wiki documentation.

I am running Ruby 3.2.2, Rails 8.0.1, and Java 23.0.2.. I have experimented with Ruby version 3.4.2 and still had the issue.

I have been trying to troubleshoot the problem without much success. I'm hoping some folks could at least point me in the right direction.

Hi Ben,

 

I think there’s a compatibility issue with Rails 8. Try this instead:

 

rails _7.2.2.1_ new my-app -m https://raw.githubusercontent.com/projectblacklight/arclight/main/template.rb
