Starting from today, there's should be a version 1.8.0-5 for both architectures on the repo.
The problem is due to the fact that qgis PKGBUILD from [archlinuxgis] is on a different infrastructure than the AUR one, so I need to update manually whenever a new version comes out, then recompile packages for both architectures.
I hope to solve the problem in the future (not so near, really) by migrating back my server to Archlinux. Unfortunately I'm quite busy at the moment so I don't think this would happen soon.
You can contribute to PKGBUILD modifications by communicating (here) your github username, so I can add anyone to the developer group. Repo for [archlinuxgis] is
