The sorting room is quiet, with large patches of sunlight illuminating the carpet in between bookshelf aisles. At a glance, the room feels like a mix-up of a garage sale and an attic. But upon further inspection of the handwritten notes and Bibles, the seriousness of the items takes hold.
Adrianne Pierce, a library associate with the Dallas History and Archive Division, has seen the preservation process from Day One. She was among about 30 library staff members on the scene during the three collection days outside police headquarters.
