to archivematica
Hi everyone,

We are working to move from Archivematica 1.14 on CentOS 7 machines to Archivematica 1.15 or 1.16 on Ubuntu 22 machines.

Instead of upgrading, we are planning to:
1. set up new ubuntu machines with a fresh install of AM 1.15 or 1.16
2. migrate our 1.14 databases, elasticsearch and pointer files to the new instances (based on the backup/restore processes outlined in the docs)

Since there is no AM version that is compatible with both CentOS 7 and Ubuntu 22, our systems team would like to know if there are any forward compatibility (i.e., moving to AM 1.16/1.17/etc.) concerns for the database if we take this approach (install and then migrate components) instead of upgrading?

If there are possible concerns, may I please also know of any database changes in 1.15 or 1.16 that we should be aware of? So far, I have noted the dropped support for MySQL 5.x.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you,
Julie
