Colleagues,
I’ve published a document to our local IR that may be of interest to those who are a bit more visually-oriented and aren’t used to some of the quirks that the Linux terminal can throw at you. Here’s the link: http://digitalcommons.uconn.edu/libr_pubs/34/. It incorporates a number of the discrete steps that Austin has generously published to the wiki put into the broader context of setting up a VirtuaBox VM from scratch to run everything in. As I’ve put in the abstract, it’s:
“A basic outline for installing Archivematica in a more production-level environment in order to test larger-sized SIP > AIP creation. This configuration can also be used to test the feasibility of production level SIP ingest > processed AIP export. In this example, digital objects ready for archiving originate in a Windows source directory that is ingested into a Linux-based Archivematica virtual machine then exported back out to a Windows network file share through SFTP.”
Basically, if you’re interested in building something bigger in capacity than the downloadable virtual appliance packages from the wiki, then this is an option besides building upon a dedicated machine. It may also be a good way to also test the overall performance differences between a virtual machine vs. a bare metal install of Archivematica 0.7 where mileage I would think may vary.
Michael
Sure you can link to it from the Archivematica wiki. Thanks for asking.
And it's great to see that you folks have scalability testing planned for 0.7.1.
