Hello,

I am a student currently working on a research project. I am trying to install AtoM in a virtual machine using Oracle VirtualBox with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. However, I am facing difficulties with both the first and second installation options for AtoM 2.8.

I have already installed and configured Archivematica on Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy in another VM, and it is functioning properly. I would like to know if it is possible to have both AtoM and Archivematica installed in the same VM, or if it is better to install them separately.

I have followed various steps, such as installing Composer and npm, but I am still encountering issues, particularly related to permissions and version compatibility. I am learning and still do not have much experience, so I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving these problems.

Additionally, could you please advise on the best way to install AtoM in my case?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Felipe

Hi Felipe

It is not advisable. AtoM does not run well on Ubuntu 22. The main problem I found was the PHP 8 version which AtoM struggle to use.

The AtoM install tutorial works well. But do not try Ubuntuu 22. Ubuntu 20 works well.

Hello Johan,

Thank you for your response and the clarification regarding Ubuntu 22 and AtoM.

Given the issues with PHP 8 and Composer during my installation attempts on Ubuntu 20.04, could you please advise on the best approach to resolve these compatibility problems? Should I downgrade PHP or use specific versions of Composer and other dependencies? Any additional recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for your help!

Best regards,
Felipe
