Hi,

We continue to work on spinning up Archivematica for the first time.  We got as far as the step 4 (vagrant up) but get this error:

"The IP address configured for the host-only network is not within the
allowed ranges. Please update the address used to be within the allowed
ranges and run the command again.

  Address: 192.168.168.198
  Ranges: 192.168.56.0/21, fe80::/10

Valid ranges can be modified in the /etc/vbox/networks.conf file. For
more information including valid format see:

  https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch06.html#network_hostonly"

I have read about adding the range to /etc/vbox/networks.conf but I am not sure about how to format the file. Also do I need to do anything else to define the host-only network in Virtual Box.  I have tired to use the VBox GUI to add the interface and I can't add it, I get an error. What is the best method moving forward?  Thanks for your continued help with us newbies!

Sincerely,

Hello,

This is the format I use when I test the VM Vagrant box:

$ cat /etc/vbox/networks.conf
* 192.168.168.0/24

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks! That seems to have worked.  Right now I am battling with issues with nested virtualization. We shall see.  Thanks!

Hi,

We can't seem to catch a break...now the VM won't start:

"There was an error while executing `VBoxManage`, a CLI used by Vagrant
for controlling VirtualBox. The command and stderr is shown below.

Command: ["startvm", "460e9008-2d26-41a2-a55b-38e29ccbca41", "--type", "headless"]

Stderr: VBoxManage: error: VirtualBox can't operate in VMX root mode. Please disable the KVM kernel extension, recompile your kernel and reboot (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)
VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component ConsoleWrap, interface IConsole"

Ideas? Thanks!

Hello,

This error was reported in https://github.com/archivematica/Issues/issues/1767. See point 2).

We haven't been able to reproduce this, so I'm not aware if the modprobe workarounds to remove clashing kernel modules would work.

Beware that those workarounds might have other functional implications in your system, so I’d recommend being careful with them.
