Renaming AIP in archival storage

Hi all,

What's the best way to go about re-naming an AIP once it's been sent to archival storage? Would I have to re-ingest the SIP? And if so, do I need to do a full re-ingest or can I change the name through a metadata-only re-ingest.

Hi Emily, 

I'm afraid the AIP name is somewhat fixed in the AIP's METS/Pointer File and the Storage Service. You'd need to recreate it at this point in time. 

I'm interested in your use-case, I wonder if it's something folks consider often in their workflows?

Thanks for the follow-up. I only have a couple to do so recreating it is not too cumbersome. Largely stems from not fully thinking out our naming conventions before starting to ingest AIPs. I’m sharing our instance of AM with another department, and quickly came to realize our AIP names need to include our department acronym in addition to its accession number, in order to make it easier to search all our respective AIPs in the Archival Storage tab.

I can definitely see how folks might have a need to make batch-changes like that.

Sorry for the necro post, but just wanted to say I'm very much in favour of this functionality (batch AIP renaming - or even just AIP by AIP to be honest) being added at some point if it hasn't already. I also did not think through my naming conventions and now have like 150 AIPs to re-ingest. Digital archiving, amirite?
