Does anyone amongst you who have adopted Archivematica also use The Museum System (TMS) for collections management?

How have you integrated the two systems?

Thanks.

David

Hi David,

As far as I know, while there are definitely institutions using both systems, there has not been any integration done yet. We are open to the possibility of doing sponsored development, or would love to see it contributed from outside of Artefactual. Perhaps  other TMS/Archivematica users can join this thread to discuss the possibilities.

Best,
Courtney

Hello Pip,

Thanks for your reply to my Google Groups Archivematica post. Sorry for the slow reply.

I work at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal, Canada. We are considering adopting Archivematica; just running tests on it now to determine its suitability for our purposes.

It is looking promising. However, since we use TMS as out Collections Database, we can't envision using the two systems in conjunction without Archivematica having some sort of mechanism that "pushes" the files to TMS, effectively linking them automatically to a TMS record. There may be some method of attaching them manually in TMS, but we are interested in whether or not Archivematica could push the files to a TMS record, thus linking them, and/or to another location. It would save us so much time if this were possible, because we are talking about thousands of files. I hope this makes sense. I will try to clarify if not.

best regards,

David

Hi David,

Just happened to stumble upon this old thread.

At MoMA we are using Archivematica, and as you may have heard, have worked with Artefactual Systems to develop a system for the management of the digital collections processed by Archivematica. This system leverages the TMS API we developed in-house, and allows one to manage the digital collections in a way that maintains TMS as the system of record. This software will eventually be released by Artefactual Systems as FLOSS.

A great feature that Artefactual developed for us is a microservice that provides DIP upload to NetXposure, the DAM system that MoMA uses, and which is integrated with TMS. This essentially allows us to upload viewing copies of images, videos, etc to TMS.

Best,
Ben
