I've got an issue with AIPscan and wondered if anyone else has attempted to used it. My issue is that I can get everything working except for actually adding AIPs to report out. I'm not sure why, though. I can get it to recognize there are packages in the storage service, but can't do anything more. Ideas?

Sincerely,
Jamen McGranahan

Hi Jamen,

When you click on the little info icon next to "26 packages", what does it say? AIPscan is looking for AIPs that are not deleted or replicas, and will not attempt to download and parse METS files for other types of packages.

It's possible you've just hit a bug, given AIPscan is still a project in early development. If so, the error traceback will probably be in the Celery logs and would be very helpful to determine what's going on. Could you try running Celery with the -f flag to specify a log file to write to (e.g. "celery worker -A AIPscan.worker.celery --loglevel=info -f /path/to/celery.log"), run a Fetch Job again, and look for error messages in the output?

Thanks,
Tessa

Tessa –

The information button is reporting the following:

28 packages in SS

19 AIPs

1 SIPs

2 DIPs

0 AIP replicas

0 deleted AIPs

But when I click on “View AIPs”, I get “No data available. Run a Fetch Job to populate AIPscan with data from this Storage Service or select a different Storage Service.”

Celery log file is attached.

Any one have any ideas on this? I'd like to use this but as mentioned, I'm not getting any reports - no AIPs are being loaded into AIPScan.

Hi Jamen,

Sorry for the delay! I meant to respond earlier and never pressed Post. It's odd - I'm not seeing anything in the Celery logs to suggest any errors. It looks like the METS files are being downloaded and processed (though perhaps suspiciously quickly, depending on how large these AIPs are).

The application database is called aipscan.db - if you open that file in something like DB Browser for SQLite and browse through the tables (e.g. aip or file), do you see data there?

I'm sure you thought of this already, but make sure to clear browser cache as well, or try going to AIPscan in a private browser window.

Tessa - I've opened the aipscan.db and though there are several tables, all are empty:

Agent
Aip
Event
Event_agents
Fetch_job
File
Pipeline
Storage_location
Storage_service

Ideas??

Even the storage_service table is empty? That's strange!

May I suggest deleting your existing aipscan.db database, restarting the application (AIPscan will provision a new database automatically), adding your storage service information again, and re-trying? The project has been recently Dockerized for development, which might make inspecting the logs easier as you kick off a fetch job to see if there's an error message anywhere, e.g. with `docker-compose -f logs aipscan celery-worker`.
