Hi Team,
During our discussions at the ExCom Summit we discussed creating a Sustainability Plan. We considered doing this through either creating a Team or a Sub-committee. Personally, I think a Sub-committee would be the most effective way to drive this.
I have found a local Rangitikei Organisation who we could approach:

Sustainable Rangitikei "We facilitate sustainability education and events in the Rangitikei."

Keen to hear the steps everyone thinks we should take next.

As per Rules we just need to develop a written scope for them if they are to be voted in as a formal Sub-Committee i.e. what is the composition of the proposed group, what are they intended to cover, outcomes expected, reporting requirements, etc.  From a financial point of view will they have any costs so do they need a budget?

To spread the workload perhaps to start with we shoulder tap some non-ExCom person to develop an initial proposal for the creation of the Sub Committee and as part of that possibly contact Rangitikei to see how they could contribute ,then put the developed proposal, i.e. scope, to ExCom for voting in..

I see Sustainability being more a role that can develop into a Team rather than a subcommittee, though it's an interesting take. As an example, I've proposed sitting this under Chair in our revised org chart, to repeat "Personally I'd view this role as a holistic one that will encompass all departments, analysing aspects from infrastructure and community engagement through to admin and financial etc." (thread).

I would like to approach the KB community for a Sustainability Lead to establish the ground work for this. I'm certain we have many passionate Burners knowledgeable in these areas - some may have fairly new qualifications in Sustainability. It will be exciting to integrate this sustainability plan into our (pending) 3 - 5 year plan!
