Just to let everyone know, it may take a bit longer than anticipated to get the full details of the Summit out.  Jax was unable to attend which means that task falls to me. I have a fairly busy week lined up but I expect to have it done over the weekend.  This may be a bit late for the EFP.  In the meantime, here's what we achieved if you (Shelley) wanted to put something in this month's as a teaser for the full stuff in next month's.

1. Went through the Afterburn draft and discussed issues arising from this year's burn
2. Developed more detailed policies around disciplinary action and how we deal with complaints.  Linked to this, also discussed how to make it easier for participants to report any problems on site.
3. Prioritised budget spending for the upcoming year
4. Discussed upcoming volunteer roles and volunteer retention strategies
5. Spent some time on long term strategic options and particularly the development of our community and culture outside of the festival
6. Completely failed to take a team photo or play Cards Against Humanity

There's a lot more in the detail and because the Summit is not a meeting where we can make binding decisions, there'll be a fair bit of voting in the next little while to ratify some of the consensus we reached - but that's a few of the main points in the meantime.

(really sorry about the photo, should have done it on Saturday in the rain while everyone was there, we could have all looked miserable and not like we were enjoying ourselves at all)

Hi, thanks for this. Only need a summary for efp for now. I can write something up from this list. So no photos taken at all from the w/e that could be used? Not a biggie tho would be nice.

Also, any idea on when theme will be decided - do you have another round of voting to do?

Hey,

I didn't take any photos at all, and I'm pretty sure nobody else did but could be wrong about that.

The theme isn't decided at the Summit, we've got two rounds of official voting to do before it gets there.  Last time we did it in two weeks, and I put the complete list up this morning for the first step so it's definitely in progress.

I took two photos, one of that heart shaped cow poo and one of my tent mark that's still there. Assuming that none of those are what you need Shelley . . . sorry!

Hi guys,

I'm so sorry I couldn't make it! Turns out my entertainer was in a car accident on Saturday which is why she didn't show up to her bookings. She's ok, but its good that I stayed back. I was really looking forward to seeing you all! I had treats put aside for everyone and everything! Sucks being the boss sometimes :-(

So obviously I have no idea what was covered at the summit but I had some things to discuss. Some are questions that I can suss on ExComLive, however I wanted to give you all an annual summary of Admin SubCom as we don't do a write up in the afterburn report and it would be good for you guys to see/hear what we do and that we all do things, lots of things, sometimes in the background.
So I had made a presentation with copies of the files printed for everyone to look through while I discussed Admin. There was a plan and I was totally going to blow you all away with how  organised I was to show that my recent AWOL was not a habit I planned on developing but well... shit happened :-)

So I would like to still do this admin summary for you all online and I'm wondering if I did this, would it be part of the summit sum up as a cliff note or just an FYI for you guys on excom, etc? Just wondering as this will affect how I write it/present it?

We'd definitely be keen to see your admin summary Jax, and I'd love to add it to the Summit sum up.

There was also a strong desire to include admin report in the Afterburn, since it's such a huge area for volunteer energy and also vital to us being able to do what we do!  It feels like an oversight that it's not been in before.

Sorry to miss you Jax but you did the right thing bruin the dedicated boss.

I will get my afterburn introduction done today or in the next few days while here in Pasadena. An at a meeting but there will be a small amount of down time.

I took a few low quality pics of people sitting around the couches talking summit stuff. Will send in the best one with my face pasted in as well . maybe the selfie of me holding up poppy's beer contract lol.

Yonderman.,,, presently the "little old founder from Pasadena" :)

Hi Shelley - glad to read of your mobiility - here is the only half decent pic I have of the Summit in action. Missing attendees in the pic are Wendy and Mark, so you could perhaps paste pics of us into the image somehow...whatever you decide.  Mark x

I'm in there, I'm just in stealth mode.  ;-)  And don't we all look so *serious*?

I'm happy not to be shopped in, but tbh aesthetically if there has to be a pic I prefer the one of us miles away in the paddock, because it gives the community a view of what it looks like when KB isn't there and I think that's pretty cool.

Yup I'll make a smaller copy for the afterburn report but I wanted to make sure I relayed all the info I wanted to at the summit so this copy is more an FYI for excom and team leads, since I wasn't  at the summit.

Got your email Ash :-) I will email an afterburn friendly admin report through to you in the next day or so.

While we are on the topic of the Summit... The website is coming along well. Andy has been putting heaps of work in. I am ready to get the blog posts rolling in. I have contacted a few people (Roh RE Temple, Nico RE Man, Leo RE Chur)...

I am wondering who else to contact who might want to write a post about their art project/gate shift etc, so that we can educate people on how this festival works.

Ideas?

Also, we need a list of email addresses for the contact form so that when people choose an option (eg: media) it sends their message to the appropriate people. I know such a list exists, but I'm not sure where.

I am writing website copy at the moment and I just got to the page about volunteer teams. Do we have a description of each team that I can use for the write-up? Do the team-leads want to send me something - or shall I just make it up as I go along?

Thanks Ash, the survival guide has some good stuff in it. It has been ages since I've read it. I especially like the illustrations.

That list is also helpful, Jax, although I'm not sure exactly which of these other volunteer teams to have a write up for on the new site. My feeling is that it's a good idea to have a description of Admin, Media, Finance etc so that we can continue to recruit people, when it sounds like something they would be into, even when we're not desperate for volunteers... so that hopefully we don't get to the point where we are so desperate.  I'm being a bit optimistic here, but the more people understand about how KB works and what is involved, the easier it is to step in and help out.

I asked Joel and he's happy to write a blog about the arts grant process and bringing large art to the paddock, but asked for a bullet pointed list defining the scope, topics go cover, and target audience to work off.  Cos he's an AHTIST, darling!  (and thus claims not be be that flash at organising his writing)

Joel
Feel free to write a paragraph or four on which ever of these questions seem the most relevant. Blog posts tend to be from around 400-1000 words and written casually/colloquially.

How did your art project start/What was the inspirationt? How did you get organised? What was the purpose? What was your experience like with the art grant process? What was the highlight of your experience? What didn't you expect? What have been the main difficulties/learning experiences/what would you do differently next time? What advice would you give people wanting to do a big art project?
