Hi everyone!

I'm one of the town planners working on collating and collecting information to establish a set of parameters to formulate the site map for KB21 and also key messages to illustrate on the map.

Alongside this, we are also collating information to create guidance document to aid future town planners in years to come who are then able to easily take action steps once they become involved.

Welcoming a discussion on how you would like the town to operate and flow, noting safety and external obligations to be met as well. FireCracker and our Infrastructure 2ic have pulled together some points already. Acknowledge the map may not always be read and information can be difficult to ascertain from an A5 sheet, but we have the following:

  • The river water is not safe to drink
  • Crossing to the otherside of the river puts Kiwiburn at risk (resource consent)
  • The other side of the river is out of bounds
  • Cliffs are not stable
  • Cliffs are prone to falling
  • The forest is an awake and aware zone (we have some signage for this already, but good to mention on the map)
  • General camping between theme camps is encouraged/allowed
  • Medics require exclusive portaloo usage, including 1x accessible
Looking forward to collaborating and sharing our energy towards this amazing gathering!

Let's be a bit more specific shall we, for those to whom I haven't explained it to already. Angela is your door to all your TP needs, Kirsten will design it, Tany will bring it to life. townpl...@kiwiburn.com cc myself and Karin infrastructure...@kiwiburn.com.
Share your datasets ASAP,  particularly art placement, theme camps requirements, H&S needs and fire perimeter considerations, preferred location of your respective facilities.
Chuck in infrastructure needs (power, light, water, sanitation, traffic, telecom, etc.) while you are at it so I can destroy all your dreams. You won't get much more than usual this year -that I can promise- but at least we can start building some sort of intelligence and plan investment for the future.

We have so much time to pull TP together, so speak up now or forever hold your piss.

Hey - Kirsten is working on a draft map to be completed this Sunday 22nd November.

Please let us know by Sunday what your camp requirements are, especially interested in size, number of structures, number of people, infrastructure, any safety/infrastructure requirements as William noted above.

The town planning team will provide Kirsten feedback on by Thursday 26th November, using the datasets and information we currently have. Please remember we are new to this role, some of us have not been to a Kiwi Burn before so we cannot draw from previous experience to know who you are and want you need. We want to help you and the Burn function and stay happy. If we don't hear back by Thursday at the latest, presuming everybody's needs has been accounted for through one channel or another.

Hope to hear from you (or enjoy the map) :)

Should this be going to theme camps? Or are you asking ExCom specifically?

Hey J,
We are discussing with theme camps and medium/large arts placement directly separately. I think what Angela is after is input from anyone else (KB internal) who have Town planning needs outside of theme camps. Do you have a marquee, a tent, an umbrella ? Do you want to be seen on the public map, do you have location needs/preferences, fire perimeter concerns, etc. Get in touch please we won't chase you!

Kia ora koutou,

The items that should be included are - Medics, Rangers Booth, Depot, Sanctuary, Services Support Hub, Consent Guardians, Center Camp, and ARTery.

All of the requirements for sizing of these spaces can be provided by Nan (Medics, Rangers, Depot boxes) or Money Daddy's treasurer records from the last event from HirePool (Center Camp, Sanctuary, and ARTery marquees).

The Support Services Hub is being planned by Selena, and should be a space of 6x6m marquee that's along services lane.

Hope this is helpful!
