Hi all
we are having some very positive community discussions on sound levels and sound policy on the FB page

https://www.facebook.com/groups/kiwiburn/?multi_permalinks=10154527785533388&notif_t=like&notif_id=1493634928014692

we have also been pointed to some existing sound policies implemented by other burns and these may give us a start point

http://playadelfuego.org/sound-policy.

perhaps this should be an excom gathering discussion point ?

I'm interested as to whether this discussion was progressed by the Ex Com at the summit?

This topic was touched on, but not in depth.

Hi Connor
there was lots of good stuff in the FB page discussion in May, I am
happy to help the sound techs like you at the various sound camps come
up with a sound policy that we can all work with for the next event,
it is always better if the community helps to define the policy rather
than just the excom making up some rules.

I have been working with the council and a sound consultant on this. Will send through details when I can.

this is the sort of topic that the community engagement liaison* should be starting a discussion within the community and espcially sound camps. i.e. explaining the issues and getting feedback then passing that back to the ExCom for review and understanding.

how do you think this should be done? on Facebook, as a thread on this google group? there is already a thread here https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/kiwiburnexcomlive/eUcwbb9i9j8 which chur has weighed in on with useful information

nb I spoke to Curt the acoustician the other day at a social event and his feeling was the layout of the Paddock is mostly inconsequential to sound - it's the bas that has to be managed.

*we don't currently have a liaison (position has been advertised)
