Kia ora koutou!
We've had people on the ground since Wednesday building up the site as
quickly as possible. This includes people from MPW, Event Management,
Kitchen and as of yesterday, Effigy, Temple, and Site Office. The ball is
rolling and things are happening!
As of today our Early Entry numbers are no longer flexible. You have what
you have and I trust you all to make the absolute most of it. I am
absolutely stocked to have you all onsite so soon.
Now is a fantastic moment for me to once again share my undying gratitude
and appreciate for the ExCom and our year round volunteers who have worked
so incredibly hard to make this event a reality. I know we're all off and
enjoying our summers pre-Kiwiburn in different ways - and I hope you each
do take a well deserved moment to rest, reflect, and appreciate yourselves.
We're so close to watching our magnificent effigy and temple burn that I
can smell the wood burn! (or is that just a drill building up the ops
office?)
I would like to make a special note of a few standout people who have made
my life so much easier -
Ronan, our MPW Lead for cooraling a team of 8 people onto site for the most
intense three day set up I have seen.
Bel, our Volunteers Lead for her consistently positive attitude despite the
insane chaos that is managing our volunteer applications.
Kirsten, Angela, and Tany for their incredibly organised and beautiful Town
Map that includes GPS locations (insanely helpful for laying out the site!)
Melle, our Kitchen Lead, for taking all the last minute changes and strange
dietary requests in full stride.
Sammy, our Theme Camps Lead, for jumping on a nearly sinking ship and
taking us back on course with new winds in our sails.
And, of course, our ExCom Team. Andy, Geveta, Craig, Amy, Julia, William,
Paul, and Holly. Without each of them leading their teams, answering inane
questions, and generally putting up with me and the general chaos of
Kiwiburn planning we would be lost.
Please know how much I appreciate all of you. Your amazing mahi is
something I can't say thank you for enough - but I damn well will try.
P.S. enjoy the site photo of the yard area, and if you can, zoom in to see
the sunflowers Mark and Andrea (the landowners) have planted for us to
enjoy!
Nga mihi,
Firecracker
