Hi team,
I caught up with the KAC's team tonight and we agreed we need to do another call out for art grant applications.

Currently we only have ;

1. 4 Small art grant applications
2. 2 Large art grant applications
3. I innovation art grant applications.

As for

Effigy we have two applications and zero for Temple.

I have already spoken with Shelley to perhaps to a special EFP on Temple and run it with a call out.

I am sending a separate email on what I have got Jasmin doing with Temple and Effigy so everyone knows what's happening while I am away.

Cheers

Diia

Moved to public thread.

(side note on a glitch experiment for admin reference, I'm hoping replies to this comment made on the external thread since moved stay in chain. I think if people reply to older comments from pre-move via email, the auto reply generates a response in the original group out of chain).

Can I make a suggestion?
Extend the small Art Grant applications to Saturday 30 November (Theme Camp registration deadine).
I think many people may only just be starting to really start planning and thinking about Kiwiburn now.

the problem with extending the deadline much is that then the artists
won't know until mid december if they got the grant, way to late to
order stuff from china and making it very hard to have it built in
time due to some businesses that close down over Christmas and don't
reopen until the second or third week in Jan

We could always keep the original deadline and assess any applications received at that stage and for those that KAC determine meet the criteria and justify a grant are then approved and if there is funding still available we do a second round of applications.

That way at least the first batch of artists know what is happening and any subsequent 2nd round applicants will be applying knowing the time constraints that will be in place by then.

Considering how far through August we are now I'd support this idea.

Just as an FYI for people - Art grant applications are always slow when we initially put the call out.

Last burn we had no applications until the week the grants closed. I don't think we need to think about extending the deadline - we just need to make sure that we comms it and let everyone know the deadline is looming.. In my experience a lot of creative types do things the day before deadlines.

We got a bunch of great grants, so thank you to everyone who helped us spread the word! Ya'll did a great job!

I will admit we did not get as many innovation grants - quite a lot of these were the typical art grants which we evaluated with the other art grants. So it's a learning for us to split these two criteria up and be a bit more specific with that grant and what it's for.
