Hey guys,
Hope all the prep for the summit is going well.
Remember to keep all of your receipts for your travel costs too and from Hunterville. You can either give them to Brendan well you are there or email to the finance team afterwards for reimbursement.
I am working my way through a report on my various thoughts on the agenda items and other things. I will get these to you tomorrow. I have spoken to Poppy fairly extensively about a lot of things so she has a fair idea on where I stand for a lot of topics.
I don't know what your internet connection will be like but I will be available to Skype in on some topics if you would really like me to chime in. NZ is 4 hours ahead of Taiwan but I will try to be up and available from 11am nz time both days. If someone could send me a message on facebook I will try to get online.
Hope it all goes well, wish I could be there.
Cheers,
Karl
Thanks Karl. We will miss you but Skype could be good. Poppy also sounds well calibrated on your points etc.
Mark

Summit thoughts
Ticketing
We need to move away from Cosmic. I do say that with a heavy heart as they have done well by use from many years as we have grown, but we have now outgrown their capacity and the have proven that they a pron to glitches in their systems.
This year we were only operating with one functioning scanner at gate as the other two phones wouldn’t work some some reason or other.
They also don’t have some of the systems that would be very hand for us to have as we transform into a burn that will sell out quickly and consistantly.
Burning Seed and Blazing Swan have now migrated to Quicket, a South African company set up by burners from Afrikaburn. Their system is tailored to meet the needs of burning events and have already gone through all of the teething issues associated with these events.
They offer a STEP program which Seed have decided they don’t need to use this year, instead opting for the function of making participants change the names on the tickets to the person they have sold it to.
They have many other functions. Here is their website http://www.quicket.co.za/
BURNER PROFILES
Something Seed is rolling out this year. Might be worth looking into.
Population Cap
We did manage to pull of a successful event this year but I would not want to push our luck extending the cap significantly next year. We don’t have the volunteer resources available as of yet and camping area will need to be reviewed once we reconfigure the site to mitigate the tree fall risk.
I would recommend a cap of 1600 adults next year, all inclusive.
TICKETING ALLOCATION
We will need to allocate tickets for essential crew to be bought online. We should do this using codes with our ticketing provider. This will also help reduce cash handling on site.
I also think we should implement parents buying $0 tickets for their kids so we have a better record of who is on site.
Hey the internet is terrible, I don't think Skype is going to happen sorry.
Cool, let me know how today goes.
Have a good afternoon everyone.
Just got back to Dunedin after 2 days summit followed by two days work back at my old employer gns. Good summit good weekend.
