Here is the vote from last year year. I presume it still stands.

so the excom voted to change ticketing providers and currently the status of this job is 'outstanding due to issues with the new provider'
no date was specified but I believe to not move to Quicket would take a new vote of the excom

Indeed. It all depends on whether we have enough time between now and the ticket sale date to set up it all up with Quicket. Bearing mind that I am yet to get access or communication with Quicket and that the ticket sale date has not been yet agreed on.

The number agreed on at summit was 1800, the other points I'm not sure - Ben?
Jaz -  I've forwarded you the ticketing emails I found in the kiwiburnExCom gmail. Will triple check this for you. Did you want to talk to Hayley re shoulder tap? :) (I can flick her an email as well if you like)

I have just made contact with Quicket and will start the process.
Yes it would be excellent if you could email Hayley Gevetta thanks. Perhaps if you could CC myself as well?

Does anyone else get this warning when attempting to go to the Quicket site?

I get this warning too and have minimal safety settings enabled. This address might not be owned by Quicket.

The above address takes you to a ticketing site. You might want to double check that they deal with NZ (can anyone verify this is the correct site). Also a non international number, preferably 24/7, would be great.

K will re consult minutes. 2000 was not due to limited Rangers and other stuff u can't remember at the top of my head, it was agreed it had to be less than 2000 this cycle.

This was the address Quicket supplied me with as a link. I highlighted the concern with them but wanted to check it wasn't just me.

The Quicket.com site is still not up an running. I am waiting for them to confirm when it will be. We will possibly have to postpone the changeover for another year if they aren't ready for us again.

it wasn't really  their fault, they were ready for us. it was to do with nz systems / laws, the payments and insurance around that I believe. burning seed use quicket and have a url with a .com.au address. maybe they will be setting up a nz one? afrikburn has the .co.za suffix

I recall the conversation where rangers were more comfortable with 1800 pop, tho many others (myself included) keen for at least 2000 pop.

I recall rangers saying they weren't confident with numbers going above 1800. Pretty sure that'll be in the minutes. And to be honest, despite the fact that I would like 2000 people, I'm not comfortable going above what the rangers are comfortable with. If people really think we need to vote on this, let me know and I'll open one. Otherwise, as best I can recall the number 1800 was mooted and generally agreed upon.

Shelley, is this something that could possibly be used to aid Rangers recruitment? i.e. if people ask/complain about the limited growth, it could be mentioned that the Rangers are important and we're not going to grow faster than what Rangers can cope with so can people please volunteer/start looking at training? Just a thought.

With respect to Quicket, if they're ready, I recall the general consensus being that we go with them. If there were strenuous objections, I'm guessing someone would have voiced them. So, yeah, as far as I'm concerned, that vote from last year stands.

My preference would be 1800.

Quicket have just advised that the .com site will be up in 1 month. I will be starting a new thread with all the questions relating to setting up the event online.

Although I do not disagree with anything said here, and remembering that it is expected that I (broadly) represent the perspective of the Ranger crew, I should like to point out that the concern regarding volunteer numbers is not limited to the Black Sheep. It is simply a greater concern of mine, specifically, because we can reasonably expect the majority of any population growth to be first-time burners, and - without putting too fine a point on it - first-timers...
  1. lack the experience to undertake many of the more demanding (and, consequently, higher burn-out) volunteer roles (including, among others, pretty much all of the "Site Safety" department)
  2. (anecdotally) make up a disproportionately greater chunk of our (i.e. the Rangers') workload.
Now, I do acknowledge that fresh blood is ultimately vital for the continuation of KB, as much as any community, so I'm absolutely not in the "fuck the burgins" camp. What I suggest is that, if we "ramp up" the population more gradually, it will (hopefully) give volunteer engagement a chance to pick up, proportionately.

Quicket can offer a NZ number but it would be redirected to a SA number which would only be manned during their business hours. They said they don't provide a call number to their other events outside of SA and it has never been an issue.
