EXHIBITION: Metropolises from the Architect's Point of View: “Architectural Excursion with VitrA: LONDON” Date: October 13 Ekim-November 15, 2009 (everyday except Mondays) Time: 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Place: santralistanbul, Gallery 1 “Architectural Excursion with VitrA: London/Metropolis and Architecture” exhibition organized with the collaboration of İstanbul Bilgi University Architectural Design Graduate Program and VitrA will be opening on October 13th, 2009. The exhibition is formed by images captured by architect and photography artist Cemal Emden, whom he was one of the attendees of the excursion together with the academic staff, studio instructors and students of the graduate program. The first global metropolis London is exhibited under four main titles, “proprietorship”, “infrastructure”, “institutions” and “figures”, in the exhibition curated by Prof. Dr. İhsan Bilgin. The exhibition will be open until 15th of November, 2009. The excursion is organized within the compulsory course, “World Cities” of BİLGİ-Architectural Design Graduate Program and is supported by VitrA in order to contribute to the education of the architects and to create a solid ground for gaining contemporary knowledge. The London excursion is led by Prof. Dr. Micheal Edwards from Bartlett School and by Prof. Dr. Gerhard Fehl from Ren-Westfalia TU. Studio instructors of BİLGİ-Architectural Design Graduate Program, Nevzat Sayın, Han Tümertekin, Murat Tabanlıoğlu, Can Çinici and Mehmet Kütükçüoğlu were accompanied by academic instructors Prof. Dr. İhsan Bilgin, Prof. Dr. Sibel Bozdoğan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tansel Korkmaz and 26 graduate students. PANEL: Metropolis and Architecture Speakers: İhsan Bilgin, Can Çinici, Murat Güvenç, Tansel Korkmaz, Nevzat Sayın Date: October 13, 2009 Tuesday Time: 5:30 p.m. Place: Santral Campus, E3-201 On the opening day of the exhibition “Metropolises from the Architect's Point of View: Architectural Excursion with VitrA: LONDON”, a discussion panel entitled as “Metropolis and Architecture” will be organized. The academic staff who participated in the expedition will attend to the panel as speakers.
