AFH Nashville - 021709 - Sunset Grill- 5:30pm

We will be having our next AFH Nashville meeting at Sunset Grill on
Tuesday Feb 17th at 5:30- 6:30ish. Come join us for drinks and
appetizers.


The meeting agenda will focus primarily on the Open Architecture
Portable Classroom Challenge. http://www.openarchitecturenetwork.org/competitions/challenge/2009.

Please attend this meeting if you are interested in being part of a
team. Based on turnout, we will either enter as one team, however, we
will more than likely enter several teams. Keep in mind that the prize
is $5000 for the winning team and $50,000 to build the winning design.
The deadline is 06/01/09 so we need to get moving fairly quickly. I
would like to get everybody registered and paired up with a local
school by the end of next week. I will have a detailed tentative
schedule on the day of meeting along with important competition
guidelines. Please let me know if you have any ideas regarding schools
to pair up with. Highsboro Highschool is a viable option. John Coleman
Elementary School is Smyrna is a great candidate aswell. Collaborating
with children and teachers is an important part of the competition. If
you are unable to attend the meeting, please let me know and I will do
what I can to get you on a team.


On the advocacy front, the tent city situation in Nashville may be a
good place to also get involved. There is a move to provide a
permanent tent city site as the many ad hoc ones around town are being
closed down

Vanderbilt will be hosting a global health forum on Feb 27th.
