Hi AFH MN,
Updates:
1. We are trying out a new leadership structure and now have a AFH MN Steering Committee in place to help lead the group. Jeffrey, Maureen, Rich, Erin, Troy, Greg, and Peter are volunteering on the first Steering Committee.
2. We are still having regular meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30 at West Bank Social Center. Erin has done a great job improving our website and we are trying to keep the schedule up to date: www.afh-mn.org.
3. We are postponing our 4th annual design charrette until we can get better coordinated. The main focus of the charrette will be the Educational Opportunities for Somaliland Public Library project but may include an additional community center/library project in Kenya.
4. In order to have the charrette, we need many volunteers to help get the word out and prepare materials/food. Our October 19th regular meeting will focus on coordinating the following:
1) Promote the event by all means necessary (AFH:MN mailing list & website,
create face book event, cdes newsletter, fliers on campus, email local
architecture blogs, etc)
2) Gather some materials for the charette (paper, trace, markers, pencils,
straight edge, etc) And tell people to bring materials with them as well.
3) Arrange for pre-event educational opportunity (Books for Africa to talk?)
4) Talk to Pizza place about donating a few pizzas for the night (Galactic
Pizza, Pizza Luce). Talk to Common Roots about donating bagels and cream cheese
for the morning.
