If you're on Facebook, please join https://www.facebook.com/groups/architecture.cpt/ and then RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/187896914664099/

The first architecture meetup will be an introduction discussion on "what is architecture?" at codebridge [1] on Monday 21 May at 18:00, and will take about an hour. It will be in a round-table format, with everybody contributing to the discussion.

Topics covered will be: What is architecture? Why is it something special other than just running your software on some servers? What is special about software designed well as opposed to just software that somebody wrote and is now running? Jonathan Hitchcock and Adrian Moisey will lead the discussion, which may include discussion of articles posted recently on Instagram and Tumblr's architectures.

This will serve to set the basis for how this group evolves and what sort of topics we want to cover. Come and meet everyone else, find out what this thing is all about and decide whether you want to join. Anyone is welcome to attend. If you're experienced in the topic, we'd love it if you came to share your experience.

Beer will be sponsored by Justin Womersly (@Jwomers) in his personal capacity. Be sure to thank the man.

Discussion and future events will be posted to https://www.facebook.com/groups/architecture.cpt/ Announcements will also be posted to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/architecture-cpt

[1] Directions to codebridge: http://www.codebridge.co.za/directions.htm - It is literally underneath the Campground Road bridge, on Claremont Boulevard. There will be lots of parking available in the parking lot next to Thicket street (on the opposite side of Campground Road to the Pick'n'Pay at Montrose Place).

Reminder: this is tomorrow. I've seen the contents. It's going to be interesting! Make sure to come if you want to influence the direction this meetup group takes.

We're still looking for someone to bring a projector. Mike Jones is going to see if he can get one tomorrow. Not a train-smash if we don't have one, but there are a couple of slide decks we're going through.

Regards
Marco
