Good day/morning/afternoon/night dear people,

Excuse our silence, I took 2 weeks (well almost) of off time with self imposed limited screen time but now back with renewed energies and wonderful things to share.

Allison and I have been testing the Solr based Islandora 7 to Archipelago importer plugin for AMI (will be included officially into version 0.2.0). This plugin complements the already existing Google Sheet and Spreadsheet importers and allows Islandora Collections/Digital objects, Compounds, files, etc to be mass imported/mapped from any Solr exposed endpoint of an Islandora 7 server to Archipelago.

It is quite smart (and caring and as fast as one can code it to be) and has some very useful features like compound collapsing, CMODEL mapping, Solr field normalization, chunking and clean up. All your data ends in a well formed CSV so even after process is as easy as downloading, -add your magic- re uploading and process the AMI set.

This week we are working on adding an extra needed feature to AMI that will allow also Subjects/Terms/etc to be mass reconciled (from human label to VALUE/URL) against any of the Strawberry Webform supported LoD endpoints. This includes Wikidata, LoC (full set), VIAF, Europeana, Getty and Open Street-maps. We decide to work on this feature after Allison spent a huge amount of time dealing with not normalized data in our ongoing DCMNY migration and copying and pasting JSON and we found out it was a very needed feature to make us/you happy and make migrations more enjoyable.

Since just telling you this exists is nice but showing you is even better, we want to organize a comfy 90 min workshop/show and tell session (or maybe even a second one so we can cover more time zones, -please let us know what times work for you -) with practical examples from our ongoing Islandora 7 migrations (note the plural) and plenty of time for discussions and questions.

We really hope you can make it, but it is summer, we know! and you all deserve some rest from 2020, 2021 and from us, so all will be recorded if you can't make it.

Please feel free to share with your friends and colleagues evaluating Archipelago and coming from Islandora 7 but also from any other platform (or starting and simply dumping feelings into from spreadsheets from your metadata-souls) since LoD reconciliation feature applies to any AMI Set and will be a life/time saver.
