Hello,

On the current Arches roadmap, there a lot of a intentions put forth around integrating with ESRI products. One point is

Ability to configure Arches to deliver data as native Esri GeoServices. This allows Esri users to seamlessly incorporate Arches data into their geo-processing and cartographic workflows;

I'd like to get clarification on exactly what "Esri GeoServices" this refers to, because it is a somewhat vague term. If Arches were built to serve out an OGC standard like WFS, or an ArcGIS FeatureServer Layer, then this would make it very easy to connect with all kinds of clients beyond the ArcGIS suite (QGIS, Leaflet, etc.). However, the way the roadmap items are worded, I'm not clear on whether this is part of the plan or not.

Thanks!

Adam

Hi Adam,

We're working on implementing koop (https://koopjs.github.io/) in Arches v5 to support publishing model instances as ArcGIS FeatureService layers.  You'll be able to configure the nodes in a model that should be included as part of the FeatureService, so that Arches data can be accessed via ArcGIS online or ArcGIS desktop applications like ArcGIS Pro.

Hope that clarifies the roadmap.

Hi Dennis, thanks for the quick reply.

Koop looks like a good solution, and this strategy should make these layers quite accessible to QGIS as well. Looking forward to the upgrade!

Thanks,
Adam

Adam,

Also, Arches will also support a geojson endpoint, so QGIS users will have the option of access Arches data either via FeatureServices or geojson.

To quickly clarify, "Esri GeoServices" is the name of the spec used by Koop, as published by Esri: http://geoservices.github.io/
