Hello Arches Developers,

At the conclusion our our initial Developer Conference in August we agreed that it would be interesting to see examples of Arches in use.

If there is still interest in sharing your Arches deployment, I propose that we set a date for a Zoom call and allow 3 or 4 community members to demo their Arches project.  I think it would be instructive to hear why you chose Arches, the technical decisions you made in deploying the platform, and your suggestions/plans for using Arches on future projects.

To get the conversation started, I suggest we consider scheduling the next meeting in November or December.  Would any of the following dates work for you?
Wednesday November 18th
Friday November 20th
Wednesday December 2nd
Friday December 4th?

I'd also encourage you to consider doing a demonstration of your Arches work.  One idea would be to have 3 projects present their work.  30 minutes per project with a little Q&A per presentation.

Cheers,

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Sounds good to me. I'd be happy to present our "Warden" Arches implementation and all the work we've done on it to date here at Historic England.

The November dates would be suit me as I am out of the office most of December.

Thanks
Andy

Hi Dennis, any of those dates works for me, and I would be happy to present about the Heritage Monitoring Scouts program for the Florida Public Archaeological Network which I implemented with Arches.

Thanks for getting this set up, Dennis! We'd be keen also - based on a couple of discussions, it sounds like there might be some interest in us showing our Kubernetes-based demo? Still a few rough edges, but would also be good for us to get some feedback on those too.

Dates-wise, Nov 20th or Dec 4th would be best - the others may depend a bit on timing, but we will make sure there is one of us there in any case.

All the best,
Phil

Hey all, Angela and I want to do an open webinar about how to contribute to the documentation (basically how the repo is set up and maybe a general Q/A), and I'm thinking it that next Friday, Nov 20th, would be a good date. If this developer meeting does get scheduled for that day, then we can hold the docs meeting directly afterward. If not, we can hold it by itself. Dennis, what do you think of that idea? I don't want to negatively impact the dev meeting, but it may actually be convenient to combine these events. Open to suggestions.

Hello everyone,

I've gotten a little feedback on the second developer conference date.  I suggest that we allow Adam Cox and Angela Labrador to host a session on Arches documentation Friday November 20th.  We would then do the developer meeting on Friday December 4th.

So far Andy Jones with Historic England and Phil Weir with Flax&Teal have offered to present some of their work on Arches.  There's still room to highlight one additional Arches application.  Please let me know if you'd like to share your Arches efforts.

I'll post the Zoom meeting for the December 4th meeting with the final list of speakers and topics next week.

Cheers,

Dennis
