The deadline for ASOR 2012 contributions is approaching (Feb 15). I'm writing to ask for your input on the topic for our second session on "Topics in Cyberinfristructure, Digitial Humanities, and Near Eastern Archaeology." Last year's session was on "Communicating Digital Landscapes in Archaeology." This year's topic is open, so please feel free to chime in!
Here are some topics that we touched on in our discussion during last year's session:
- research applications of published/shared data (demonstrate the potential)
- teaching web / data skills as part of graduate training
- professional practices to accommodate creation of digital resources
- the ethics of data sharing
- how to get senior scholars involved in data sharing
The above topics can probably all be lumped into a theme of barriers/concerns/challenges in data sharing, so there is one potential topic.
We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts on other topics!
All the best,
Sarah (and Eric Kansa and Chuck Jones)
