Dear all,
Welcome back to the final session of our one-year research studio and your last project before heading out of UNSW.
As we've mentioned at the end of the Final Review, Ramin and I would like to do a warming up charrette tomorrow. Please bring in your proposal that you've presented for E-4 submission and anything in addition to that: changes, new ideas, total abandonment of some sort and whatnots. The idea is to get you start and work toward the first general submission on WK-2: esquisse, or, the first design sketch (15%).
We are not going to ask you to solve a list of design questions. This charrette is more about re-focus on the project than a launch to new proposals. We will spend the first 2 hours (10 to 12 PM) going over the course outline, general discussion for this session's schedule and our task at hand. From 2 to 5 PM, with help from Maryam Gusheh*, you will be asked to go over your proposal and come out with one page (A1 or 2 X A2) scenario that you would want to "draw out" architecturally onto your site: the main idea & concept for your design proposal, how to transform the existing site/station into a new place and by what design & planning strategies employed? and your possible first "image" of the design. We will collect the drawings and give you feedback via email (sent out no later than Sunday) so you can get on with your esquisse.
As usual, please bring in the tools you'd like to work with. It is going to be a short in class exercise and an all night prerequisite is not required.
See you all tomorrow at 10 AM, same studio on L5.
