Hi everyone,

I am having some serious issues trying to export my components into Cryengine. It seems that Dani had a similar issue where her levels folder went missing. Mine is missing too. I have redownloaded, reinstalled and unziped the Crydev file under the following C: > Program Files (x86) > Electronic Arts > Crytek. I have called my file arch1101.

I have changed my User Account control to the lowest setting.

I have also verified that my editor shortcut is connected to the correct editor.

I am trying to place a simple extruded circle into my level but Playup isn't able to export my geometry. I have 46 vertices.

Here are my playup preferences:

If I have multiple versions of the same level, where should my model export path be? To the overall EXP3_Quarry_3 folder? or a sub version folder (eg. Exp3_Quarry_3_vs7 etc.)?

Here is what my cryengine roll up bar looks like.

I'm running out of ideas.. does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Mitchell,

First thing to try is a simple box from the same SketchUp file that you are trying to export your model from.

You wont see a levels folder unless there is a properly exported model file in it ... you'll be looking for a *.cgf type file in your levels folder.

If the simple box works it's most likely a problem with your model, if it doesn't work its most likely a problem with your setup. I say most likely because you may be doing different things on each export that i can see from here.

Let us know.

Cheers

Hi Russell,

I have just tried importing a simple cube into Cryengine with no results.

Below is the process that I took to 'export' my cube, am I doing anything wrong?

Here is an overview of my Playup preferences.

Here is my model export path. If i am using level 'EXP3_Quarry_3_vs7' should I be exporting my geometry into that specific folder or is the broader EXP3_Quarry_3 still valid?

My rc.exe file path highlighted in yellow.

My component information with the number of vertices.

Here is the result in explorer with the exported geometry highlighted in yellow. I have also highlighted the level that I am using specifically in Cryengine.

As I am only getting a .dae file, does that mean that the rc.exe isn't executing correctly? Is there a way we can fix that? : \

Thanks again for your help,

Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,

Yup, looks like the RC (resource compiler) isn't executing.

(as an asides, you seem to be modeling in mm rather than meters ... this will give you some scaling/collision issues at some point).

All your setup paths look fine to me ... can you copy the text from two files for me to take a look at:

From the Bin32/rc folder, copy the text from rc_createdfiles.txt and rc_log.log

Cheers

Hi Russell,

Thanks for pointing out the meters issue.. I didn't realise that had an impact.

Hi Mitchel,

Hmmm, some unusual things there ... the reference to the forest level in particular.

I just want to confirm you are exporting to the "EXP3_Quarry_3"  level? In one image about you highlight the "EXP3_Quarry_3_vs7_editor" folder ... which is not where you want to be exporting to.

It's looking like the best bet will be to come and use the lab computers.

Cheers
