Whenever i try to import my new sketchup model draft, Cryengine does not recognise.

The .cgf file is missing, when i try and import. My play up settings and filepath are correct.

found this troubleshooting page which helped guide through certain issues that would potentially stop cryengine from importing model.

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/arch1101-2012/ryUcUrefVHo

After going through everything, I still cannot import.

Component name: bridge

the component was originally created with groups to keep things organised and then nested that within a component and exported. did not work.
also tried exploding groups, then make whole structure component and export. did not work.

This is component statistics

I don't think there is any bad geometry. I checked normals on the playup toolbar. here are some screenshots of model. (no bad geometry)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem too :(

I tried breaking up my model into three major components (with lots of other smaller components inside) and exporting each one using export selected geometry. That didn't create a cgf file.

(the three main components of my model in sketchup)

On the other hand when I tried 'export level' it worked a bit better, as it exported a lot of the smaller components inside the big main component (but not all of them). Also some of the geometry inside the main component wasn't grouped/made into a component so that may be one reason why some geometry didn't export properly. Another problem was that the textures did not export when I chose export level, with some faces having the red 'replace me' signs:

exported level in cryengine (the inside is has basically nothing as it did not export properly)

These are the things I tried/done:

- grouping/making geometry into components inside the main components and export level (that didn't really work)

- I checked my normals

- intersecting faces with model (that didn't really help/didn't know how that affected anything)

- exploding everything and making creating only three components so each one does not exceed the vertices limit (that made things worse I think, couldn't export anything at all)

- ran the cleanup plugin

also the rc path thingy should be correct as it can export stuff into cryengine its just that some are not exporting may be due to bad geometry?

I spent the whole day trying to figure this out already and it isn't really working :(

but try exporting using export levels if that helps :)

I'm 99% sure the reason you guys can't export your components is because they contain too many polies / vertices.

Breaking the model into 3 big components, then making each of those *contain* smaller components won't fix the problem. The 3 big components will still contain the same number of polies / vertices as before! You'll need to break the model down into several smaller components, and export those components individually. Or have several small top-level components and export everything as a level.

The main thing is that when you're exporting a component, it will *not* create a .cgf file if it contains geometry AND / OR components AND / OR groups that, when all added together, add up to more than ~12 000 faces or (more accurately) more than 65 536 vertices.

Hi Guys,

Steve is right, how did you go?

Both bridges are looking very good in the images above. I'm looking forward to taking a look around them.

Cheers

I managed to export it nicely after separating everything into smaller simpler components then exporting my whole bridge as a level (which took a long time and I have over 1000 components now). I also had to make sure the floors were at least 20mm thick or else my character fell through but it's all good now :)
