I think your problem is that it's just a face, and that side that's disappearing is the inside of the face. You probably need to make a solid where only one side of a face is showing all around.

Try by starting with a sphere, then copy it, paste it in place, scale it down slightly about it's center and intersect it with the original larger sphere. Delete what's left of the second smaller sphere and you should be left with a "solid" shell of a sphere. Then you can intersect it with other shapes to "trim" it down to the shape you want.

I've never done this, so I don't know if it's the best solution or if it'll even work.
Good luck

Cheers,

Hi,

I think I was having the same problem but in studio Ros showed me that you have to check your normals before exporting to crysis. The parts of the model that turn up grey are the ones that will export but the ones in green would be missing like in your video. Usually happens when your model doesn't have a thickness to it, which I had to fix. Maybe this will work as it did for me. In crysis when you select your model, under GeomEntity and '<no custom material>', click on your materials and scroll down from 'Material Settings, Opacity Settings... etc' and in 'Advanced', tick '2 sided'.

Hi Guys,

Yes, you should definitely use the check normals button before exporting from SketchUp ... in fact, I would recommend that you always have it on while modelling, that way you wont get any surprises, and it's easier to fix the problems as you go along than at the end.

Here are two screen shots from SketchUp ... the first shows the sphere on the left a little blue'ish in colour, the second shows it bright green. It's hard to miss the reversed faces when they are bright green. To fix them up simply select them all and right click and choose "Reverse Faces".

Sabrina, if you cant give that model some thickness you could always create two of them ... offset them by a bit ... and make one face one way and the second face the other. Export them individually and then link them together in CryENGINE3.

Cheers
