Hi all,

In the google sketchup official website it did mention sketchup
support .3ds. However in our sketchup (File-->import ) just
have .skp .dwg and .dxf as options for import. Although Autodesk 3ds
Max can export into .dwg and .dxf, I get a message from sketchup when
I try to import the file:

"Error opening AutoCAD import file: Invalid Dwg Version. This does not
appear to be a valid AutoCAD DWG or DXF file or the file is write
protected."

I search on the internet, however, most articles or video are teaching
how to import from SKP to MAX which is the reverse idea of what I
want...
Thanks for helping!

Howard

Hi Howard,

I'm using Google SketchUp (the free one) version 7.1.6860 and I have
the option to import a 3ds file. Maybe you'll need to download that
version?

I just made a quick model and imported it ... which worked fine.

Cheers
