Hi all,

I'm having trouble importing my sketchup files into my crysis
environment, which I am really starting to freak out about now... I've
got both of the playup paths set correctly, and an objects folder
which has objects already in it, but my new bridge things won't go
from one program to the next. I've also tried using the uni computers
by transferring the whole level folder (including textures and other
stuff) and the objects folder into the system harddrive, but that
still didn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers
Angus

Hi Angus,
Have you made sure of first applying textures and then making the
object a component? as when I did this wrong, the Sandbox thought it
was importing the object but nothing (or just one or two faces) was
appearing.
is the problem that your objects folder does not appear in the "Brush"
area of Sandbox? or is it that when you drag the name of the object
over to the environment, nothing appears on the axes selected?

I have a similar problem....
The object appears in the brush folder but when i drag the object in
the environment the axes are there and so is that orange outline box
but not the object
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much

Yep, i've made the thing a component, exported it, made sure the
pathways are correct but it doesn't show up in the objects folder.
However, there are some objects that are already in there from the
last assignment which still work fine. I can't figure out what I
haven't got right :(

what i tried that has worked was copy the component and paste it into
a new sketchup window and export it from there.
its seemed to work that way for some reason

Hey guys,

You have to make sure the component that you are trying to export is
not more than 1000-1200 entities max. If it is anything over this the
model wont appear. To check how many entities make up a certain
component, double click the component and select everything which
makes up the component. Then goto the edit toolbar, and right down the
bottom it will have a number of how many entities you have selected.
If this is over 1000-1200 it will NOT show up. You will just have to
break up the component into smaller components and export them all
seperately. Just make sure you have thier axes being at the same point
so when you export the components they will be able to be snapped
together through the modify toolbar in crysis > Align > Align to
object.

A note to remember, components with curves have a load of entities!

Hope this has helped!

Hi Guys,

I just left a tip on the Sandbox2 tips and tricks thread about the
maximum number of polys you can export (10,000). It also tells you how
to find out how many polys are in your model ... this might help
Angus.

Ana, I'm not sure how the number of polys relates to the number of
entities (there may be some double up). You'll be happy to know that
Crysis is the least temperamental out of any of the game engines I've
used ... a few years ago we could only dream of being able to do the
things all you guys are doing today. I guess it's all relative.

Cheers
