Do any of those keen on lockpicking have any advice for a key that is stuck in the door lock of a Honda Element?
I managed to get the door open and can access the car, but the key is still stuck in the lock. The means that when the door is shut there is a good chance that I could easily get locked out of the vehicle, as it impedes the unlocking with another key. Plus, their is the pesky key sticking in the lock issue. I have a valet key to drive it with.

No amount of pulling on either handle 9n the door or unlocking it manually frees the key.

My first thought on a cold a night would be to lubricate the lock (wd40), so the key will slide out. Then try using some super glue, ideally to the top half of the key, but really anything that will create a good bond will work.

After applying some WD40, I managed to get the key out. The lock, however is jacked up. We won't be able to lock the doors until we consider our options on getting it fixed. Unfortunately, all of the options sound expensive.

Considering recent temperatures, could it simply be that water (possibly condensed, possibly leaked in from outside) has frozen in the mechanism? You didn't mention if it's a conventional cylinder lock or something fancier. Is it feasible to park it in an above-freezing location? If that frees it up, a good purge with WD40 might be all it needs. Applied lubricant below freezing could (did) enable freeing the key, but wouldn't displace ice preventing free movement of pins.
