Dear George
I have been forwarded with the development news regarding the Time line chart 2nd edition. It is quite discouraging for people involved particularly for Nela.
I do not understand why there is no response from Abu. I am also confuse that Mubasshar cannot remember the appointment of Nela in the council meeting where he was the Chairman of the meeting. However, I am sure a few members who were in the meeting can remember and will be able to confirm of what happened. Regardless, I am certain that the matter will be clarified and the minutes of the council meeting in Lahore will be corrected sooner or later.
To stop the confusion so we can move forward on the project may I suggest the following.
Since I was the Acting chairman of the ACAE in Lahore and I was the one who officially proposed Nela in the council meeting ,I would like to confirm the appointment of Nela as the coordinator of the Time line chart 2nd edition.
If this is justifiable and acceptable to all who has been involved I think the project can then move forward. Please kindly consider the proposal.

Best regards
Chalay

Bernard

Hello from Beijing!
It is nice to hear from you giving advice to Nela.
I fully agree with you, Bernard, that this TLC is "not a coffee table publication running into 150 pages".
Please work within the context of the Time Line "Chart"…it is a "Chart".

Hoping that you, Nela, Chalay and Abu work this out.

See you soon!

Best regards,

George

Dear Nela,

TIMELINE CHART – 2ND EDITION

I fully concur with Chalay.  Your appointment on the Timeline chart, was decided upon at the ACAE meeting, as a response to my suggestion that the Timeline in its existing format, is poorly presented and needs a total re-look, both in concept and content.  As I recollect, the appointment was subsequently confirmed at the ARCASIA Council Meeting.

However, a word of caution.  It is my understanding that the Timeline is to be a concise summary of the architectural heritage, (both historical and current) of all ARCASIA nations showing at a glance, their architectural evolution.  I do think we need to draw a distinction between the ARCASIA Heritage Publication, and the Timeline.  As such, I really cannot see this as a coffee table publication running into 150 pages as you mentioned.  As such a rethink of the format will be necessary.

Thanking you, with warm regards.

24 March 2011 ,

Dear Bernard ,

Many thanks for your time , confirmation and advice .

Yes I agree that  a distinction ought to be drawn between Heritage : Time Line . This is an area where Abu could guide us , having authored that wonderful Heritage Publication .

Bernard , I am only facilitating and coordinating this publication as it's coordinating director  to basically make it happen . Once we appoint our Editor , we could take all this into consideration , along  with Abu's guidance . Right now I am trying to get the prospective editor to give us an out line proposal .

Many thanks for your Time once again , ,

Your sincerely ,
Nela

Hi Bernard!

I am Yolly Reyes, the ACAE Chairman during the conceptual period of the Arcasia Timeline Chart (ATC). Together with our current Arcasia Chairman George Kunihiro and Dean Milton Tan (Singapore), we conceived and formulated the ATC.

The ATC was not created to be a coffee table book. It is a CHART. It was designed to have a quick look at the historical / architectural structures of each Arcasia member country at ‘a glance’. The next step that was agreed after the Chart is to come up with a book (maybe a coffee table book) that will focus on the details of some of the (more important) structures in the ATC.

My comment on the ATC is that the photos became very small especially for countries with many entries. The second edition should definitely be an improvement of the first.

Best regards,

Yolly
