I recently began working as an Outreach Specialist with Spence-Chapin. At Spence-Chapin, we provide opportunities and support to families who may be in crisis, particularly those facing unexpected pregnancies. Our role is to bridge families with compassionate resources, options counseling, and community supports so they don't feel alone in their journey.
One of the unique services Spence-Chapin provides is something called Interim Care (ICP: Interim Care Program). Interim care provides short-term care of the newborn, allowing birth parents the vital time necessary to make their decision while maintaining parental rights. This program is well established in NY and NJ. We are currently onboarding here in Arizona. This is volunteer-based. Many of our caregivers are retired RN's, social workers, retirees, and other people in the medical field with childcare experience. Our volunteers are passionate about taking care of these babies.
Join us for our Become an Interim Care Provider Info Session & Breakfast to learn how you can provide temporary, nurturing care for newborns. Spence-Chapin staff will share what the role involves, the supports available, and how Interim Care Providers play a vital part in giving families time to make important decisions about parenting or adoption.
We would love to share more about this program and invite you to our upcoming ICP event on September 25th, 2025, at 9:30 am.
If you know anyone who seems like they might be a good fit, please feel free to share this information.
I look forward to sharing more about our Interim Care Program.
Best,
