I would like to add 'arc' as another executable name for arcadia
--more command line friendly, like "e" is for e text editor, and "tm"
is for textmate.
Any thoughts there?

good idea.
There is only an homonymy with old arc file archiver and compressor
(superceded by zip/unzip)

Do you think the collision is strong enough to merit changing the
name? I've never used arc... :)

No, old arc isn't of common use, can be only useful if have old .arc
