Now that we're out of the first two cities, the game really opens up. The first thing you should do is grab the Quick Claw from the girl in the rightmost building and then head west towards the tunnel to 218 and talk to the fisherman for the Old Rod. This is probably the most important but missable part of the early game as it gives you access to arguably the single best pokemon for a nuzlocke. Fish at route 218, route 219, and then finally head back Twinleaf town to the pond right below your house.

If you're lucky, you will have gotten a Magikarp at one of these locations. This is absolutely key for a successful play through as Gyarados will be carrying you well into the mid-late gyms. I also nabbed a Finneon and a Krabby (this guy is scary early with super high attack/defense stats. He will kill a squishy pokemon from full hp with a crit so don't risk it and use a dive ball).

Moving forward, I head to route 204 where I get a Budew as my encounter. This is okay as I do need a grass type eventually, but honestly, there are better alternatives on this route. Any of the bug pokemon (Weedle, Wurmple, and Caterpie) are really good here as they evolve to a third evolution by level 10 and have their base stats buffed in this hack. Having a strong fully evolved pokemon to rely on in the early legs of a Hardlocke is really important. Ralts is also available in this route but is pretty uncommon. I beat the trainers and go to Ravaged Path where I grab the Expert Belt and TM Rock Tomb. I run into a Zubat which is another pokemon I'll have to friendship grind, but a Crobat will definitely be useful down the line.

As far as I can tell for nuzlockes, bulky heavy hitters are the ideal combination as they can 1v1 opponents while tanking hits on the switch. Because of this, Snorlax is probably one of the best pokemon due to its high attack, hp, and special defense stats. Give this big boy Return, Slack off, and two coverage moves and he'll be bodying opponents like nobody's business.

TLDR; Don't fuck up and initate the Barry fight before you're ready. He's easy enough with a Rock Tomb user and a strong pokemon to fight his Munchlax. Go fishing and catch a Magikarp.

I love Empoleon, but I only had so many slots on my team, and other mons felt more necessary. By the time he would've evolved into a Steel type, I already had plenty of other options for Grass-neutral and/or Bulky pokemon. He just didn't feel necessary, and I've already had plenty of Play-throughs that used an Empoleon.

I've never used a rain team in an actual pokemon game, so this was a ton of fun. I cannot stress enough how cool Drizzle Blastoise is, so thank you Drayano. I'll admit though, the Yawn / Protect set was a bit cheesy, and allowed me to progress through the game while 5-10 levels under-level since the Sleep gave Manaphy time for 1-3 Tail Glows into a clean sweep. I'm surpised the AI never switches out a sleeping pokemon. Honestly, the early game was the hardest part of this play-through. Before Drizzle Blastoise, I actually had to be at the same level as my opponents to stand a chance. Gardenia was by far the hardest fight in the entire game, but I'll get into more detail later.

Damn, Gardernia was so difficult. My entire team would get 2HKO'd by Grass Knot except for Vaporeon and Mantine, which was very tricky to work around. However, I eventually figured out that her lead, Bellossom, was programmed to almost NEVER use an attacking move, which gave me set-up time. I ended up with a strategy that involved Vaporeon setting up Substitute (which prevents Bellossom from Stun-sporing), then using Scald to whittle her down to very low HP. Then, Vaporeon baton passes into Wartortle, who gets the kill and proceeds to Yawn / Protect her next pokemon and barely kill it. Wartortle could live much longer than this, but Mantine could get 3 kills (partially by abusing Confuse Ray), leaving only one for the rest of my team to deal with one by one as they got OHKO'd by it. If I had to guess, this one took me around 20 resets.

Very easy. Blastoise was a legend and could tank one STAB Thunderbolt, giving him time to Yawn / Protect, switch into Kingdra, and sweep most of the team. Swampert finished off the few remaining pokemon once Kingdra fainted.

The underleveling really came back to bite me in this fight. Entering it, my highest level pokemon was Kingdra at 69 (nice). Cynthia's entire team is in the 77/78 range, which is just absurd. Fortunately for me though, she tries to set up screens at the beginning of the fight which gives Blastoise enough time to Yawn and Switch into Kingdra. It took me a few attempts to properly get 3 DDs off with Kingdra, but once I did it was an easy sweep. Water + Dragon STAB coverage is absolutely insane.
