Hi all,

Today I had some spare time and was curious whether my old iMac (running macOS 10.13) could still compile MacAranym with the old Xcode project (=the one producing binaries for Intel 32-bit and 64-bit systems, using SDL and SDL2 and deploying back to macOS 10.5 or 10.6). The conclusion is: Yes, it works!

The biggest hurdle was finding the most recent version which would be compatible with the whole setup. I ended up using SDL 1.2.15 and SDL 2.0.8 with corresponding SDL_image versions.

I call this a nostalgia release because Intel CPUs (especially 32-bit) are now a long time obsolete in the Apple ecosystem, and I have not the hardware for testing them anymore.

Please let me know if you have an old Intel-based Mac which can run this MacAranym „nostalgia release“ successfully. Especially if the macOS version is in the lower ranges (10.5, 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8).

The MacAranym release can be found on my website https://xn--donz-epa.ch/atari/software/macaranym/ (Yes… it’s still not compatible with mobile phones ;-))

Best regards,
Philipp

Hi,

nostalgia

I suppose that it should also run on macOS Mojave (32 and 64bits), but it can't be tested for the moment. The SDL1 `MacAranym JIT.app` was tested alright.

This is good news, because this new GIT snapshot is supporting EmuTOS 1.4 ARAnyM's version, with 1Mb multi-language capacities. This is not the case for EmuTOS 1.4, with the official ARAnyM 1.1.0 release from year 2019.

This "nostalgia" release is warmly welcomed!

Thanks,

Best regards,
