What does "MarYah" and "Alaha" mean?

Postby yaaqub on Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:19 pm
The Aramaic Name "MarYah" belongs to Almighty God and is the equivalent to the Hebrew "YHWH" (Yahweh).

The Aramaic title "Alaha" means "God" and is the equivalent to the Hebrew "Elohim"

In the Scriptures, Meshikha is referred to as "MarYah" and "Alaha". Saint Ya'aqub the Apostle says that he is a servant of "MarYah God our Lord Yeshua Messiah" (Aramaic: "avda d'MarYah Alaha Maran Yeshua Meshikha" - Aran Younan's Jewish Aramaic Peshitta). Other versions use different renderings. The Eastern Aramaic text says: "Avdeh d'Alaha wa'd'Maran Yeshua M'shikha".

The Name "MarYah" is listed in its various verses from the Syriac text in this booklet (free download) http://www.lulu.com/content/1713251
