Dear Colleagues and Students,

In case you have not noticed, there is the first OAI Foundation U.S. Hands-On Workshop to be held during Nov. 17-19, 2025. This is a great opportunity for students to learn how to use OpenAirInterface, one of the leading open-source 5G platforms available today. Please find enclosed below more detailed information from OAI Foundation.

On a related note: ARA provides the first-of-its-kind support for at-scale, field experimentation with end-to-end open-source 5G from UE to gNB/O-DUCU and Core; see Open-Source NextG and O-RAN experiments in ARA. Some example experiments can also be found at https://arawireless.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ara_experiments/ara_ran_experiments.html

Enjoy,

Hongwei

PS: OAI Foundation U.S. Hands-On Workshop will be held at the University of Texas at Austin from November 17 to 19, 2025, where we are trying to emphasize on practical training leveraging OAI Software, 5G, 6G, and Open RAN.

The program outside of Day 1 – Presentations & demos which will have keynote, technical talks, panels, and live demos, is going to be class-room type hands on sessions on

  • deploying OAI Core Network and RAN components (Docker & RF simulators),
  • exploring GitOps with Nephio,
  • examining RAN code structure, gNB functional splits, and multi-UE management,
  • building monitoring dashboards and run SDR hardware,
  • working with NI USRPs,
  • taking part in Allbesmart sessions on RAN extensions and experimentation, and
  • experimenting with Large Scale Channel/O-RU Emulator.

We are mostly counting on students attending and have kept it cheap (only $150.00, just enough for attendance to cover for catering).

Workshop page with details on program and registration is here.
