Bitter Irony: 

The disease started and spread because of human exploitation of animals--Our lethal destruction of their habitat (See Jane Goodall below) and the markets serving the merciless human project of eating them.

And now we are endangering and killing them in our pursuit of a cure for this disease that is our doing. Destroying more innocent lives and further jeopardizing our planet's ecosystems. DT
