Further to our recent appeal for the lovely Dartmoor Foals due to be slaughtered at the end of September we have now been informed by 'H.O.P.E.' Dartmoor Hill Pony Rescue that despite several homes being offered there are now a total of 50 foals that need to be rescued as a matter of urgency.

 

H.O.P.E. Rescue still need lots of forever, loving and foster homes and good rescue spaces as a matter of urgency before the end of this month otherwise these foals will be sent to slaughter ie shot in the head! Can you please help? Please come forward to save a life before it's too late!

could you please help us try and find forever, loving homes for these beautiful Dartmoor Hill pony foals, they should be coming in off the Moors at the end of September.
The Stallions have been removed and gelded but unfortunately some Mares were caught before they could be removed.
 
IF THESE FOALS DON'T FIND FOREVER, LOVING HOMES THEY WILL BE SENT TO SLAUGHTER! 

 

These are semi ferral foals and some experience is needed but very rewarding and these honest, gentle, fun loving foals will change your life.

Each year thousands of tourists flock to the Dartmoor National Park for the beautiful scenery,  the friendly people and the fantastic wildlife including the iconic Dartmoor Hill Pony.  Every summer the mares and foals are photographed on the Moor by people who fall in love with these enchanting Ponies.

SADLY. . .

What few people realise is, once they have all gone home…

Around the end of September they are rounded up and taken to their owners’ yards.

The mares are returned to the Moor without their anxious young foals.

The babies are then loaded onto lorries and taken to the sales to meet their fate.

Often this fate is decided before the sales ring when they are loaded onto another lorry, bound for slaughter to become cheap meat for local zoo animals.

At H.O.P.E, we work with farmers to find a better solution.

In exchange for gelding their stallions to help prevent overbreeding we will find loving, forever homes for their foals.
