The Scott Limnology Laboratory in the Department of Biology at Baylor University is seeking a postdoctoral scientist in ecological and/or biogeochemical modeling. The Scott Lab is partnering with international collaborators and local water managers to develop a lake and reservoir forecasting tool through the implementation of existing and expected modeling platforms such as the Water Ecosystem Tool (https://projects.au.dk/wet/). The postdoctoral scientist will co-lead the project and engage in various other projects on ecosystem ecology and biogeochemistry.

Job Duties: The successful candidate will maintain a network of real-time sensors and manage the associated monitoring databases. These data will be utilized along with existing ecological and hydrologic models and other readily available inputs to construct, calibrate, improve, and maintain an ecosystem forecasting tool.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field and have interest in ecological and/or biogeochemical modeling. Experience with limnological modeling, real-time monitoring, and quantitative analyses using R, Python, Matlab, or other computer programming applications is preferable. The candidate should have demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision, but also demonstrated teamwork skills. The candidate should have a demonstrated knowledge of the related scientific literature as evidenced by first- and co-authored publications in the peer-reviewed literature.

The position is a three-year appointment from June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2023. Inquiries about the position and applications for the position should be submitted via email to Thad_...@baylor.edu. Applicants must submit a CV, one-page research statement, and include contact information for three references on their application. Applications submitted before March 15 will receive full consideration.
