It looks like development has stopped on Aquamacs. I noticed many packages are unavailable due to the version being used. I tried downloading and compiling the sources but the build fails at   ELC      international/titdic-cnv.elc (see: https://share.polymicro.net/pb-J5odKbHNPO.txt ).

I've grown so used to Aquamacs I find emacsonosx frustrating, any help on at least getting Aquamacs compatible with Emacs 28 I would attempt to try and keep it up to date. I am not an ELISP programmer but would definitely try.

Hi, Dave. Thanks for the note, and for the offer to help.

Aquamacs development hasn’t stopped; it’s just in hiding.

More seriously, the work at the moment is a huge merge to catch up to Emacs 28,
so there’s a lot of effort that doesn’t lend itself to partial visibility. I had hoped to
have something limping along by early July, but it has turned out to be more
complicated than my optimistic wish.

I’m hesitant to project at this point, though I’m hoping for a somewhat-functional
this summer.

At this particular stage, I don’t know of a way to share the work—I wish I did! Once
the basic merged version is working, there will be a lot of testing to do on various
Aquamacs features and additions, and any help on that phase, for both testing and
debugging, would be great.

As for your build from source: did you try that on an Apple Silicon (M1) system?
Unfortunately, Aquamacs won’t build on M1, and the necessary changes for Emacs
to work at all on M1 only happened in Emacs 28. If you’re building on x86, the
build-aquamacs script in the top level of the Aquamacs sources should work. If that’s
what you’re having trouble with, let me know and we can sort that out.

Best,

Win
