The new ceramic filtration system (phase two done; fire, glaze and
refire remains)--upon completion, the details of which I will not
disclose here -- is currently awaitng the oven. Meanwhile the plastic
bottle make shift filtration for the wood shrimp (the pair of
adolescent Atyopsis) , is still operating at satisfactory levels. pH
levels high but now stable, sort of.
The Daphinia population has been reduced to a sparse few because of
the snails incursion coupled with biomass reduction. I expect the new
pump, working title "The K'an" (I Ching reference), to usher in a more
suitable environment for Daphinia. Hang in there little fellas. As it
stands the shrimp College and Caver are thriving, as well the
Macrophytes. College still tends to swim off the logs looking for an
exist, but now alot less frequent. Both of the Macrophytes I
misidentified as Submerged Macrophytes when in fact it Emergent
Macrophytes. This error was made obvious, as I watched now both grow
out of the water.
