Hey folks, please pass this on to Asian Americans you know who are
interested in theatre... a casting call for a really beautiful family
story written by an 8-yr old Chinese American girl in Philadelphia.
Her play is one of 6 winning plays that will be produced by
Philadelphia Young Playwrights, and one of three that will go on to the
Philadelphia Theatre Company. It's an exciting opportunity...


Philadelphia Young Playwrights is looking to cast Asian American actors
for Linda Yulin Zheng's winning play, Daddy's Wish. The story focuses on a
17 year old boy as he balances schoolwork with the demands of helping his
father run a Chinese restaurant in Philadelphia's Chinatown. Zheng's play
will be produced at Temple University as part of a festival of enhanced
workshop productions from November 4-6, and again as a professional
production in partnership with Philadelphia Theatre Company from December
3-10. The roles include:

Weien Yang -- 55 yrs old, the father and owner of Bety Bee restaurant
Yuten Yang -- 17 yrs old, son and inexperienced at restaurant work,
loves computers
Zheng and Yang -- hard working cooks at the restaurant
Mei Lin -- restaurant receptionist; lazy, would like to be more
beautiful

Though Chinese is spoken throughout the play, all are encouraged to
audition. Directors and playwrights of all Young Playwrights winning plays
will be present. Auditions will be held at Temple University's Randall
Theatre at Tomlinson Theatre. To schedule an audition, please contact
